The Four Girls
Carla, Yolanda, Sandra, Sofia

Carla –
The oldest, tries to calm everyone down in their talk because they all begin to argue. She tries to encourage Yolanda, but she says that it reminds her of her mother’s criticism. Carla is the “counselor” of the family.

Yolanda –
She has been having a bad week. She also wants to be called by her full name rather then “Yo.” Yolanda writes poetry but she thinks it is not good. The family tries to encourage her that it is. Yolanda begins to open up and she reminds Sofia of the day their father kicked her out by mimicking him.

Sandra –
Had recently got out of the hospital due to a mental breakdown. Her mom tries to find her a man. Even while in the hospital the mother is looking. She finds one and tells him a story of Sofia and he eventually goes and meets her. She is on anti-depressants and very emotional now.

Sofia
Is very rebellious. She is married to Otto whom she had a child with. Her father kicked her out of the house because he thought she brought “shame” on their family.


The Mother –
She picks up men for Sandra because she really cannot herself. While Sandra was in the hospital, the mother goes and finds a man she can talk to. She also changes the story on how Sofia and Otto met.

Otto –
Is a German, he married Sofia. They talk about how he met Sofia while both in Colombia. Otto writes to Sofia very often. Sofia comes and lives with him after she ran away from home. They have a daughter.

Joe
Yolanda

Yolanda –
Her name has always been mistaken for “Joe.” She has been sent to a mental hospital; in the hospital she gives names to different objects. John and her get into a lot of arguments and eventually they decide that she is going to go see a shrink. She also quotes people constantly. She also falls in love with Dr. Payne.

John –
John begins by saying that he loves her and he asks her to marry him. John and Yolanda argue often. He made a pros and cons list about marrying her.

Dr. Payne –
He is the shrink. He thinks that Yolanda needs to stay until she gets better. Yolanda falls in love with him.


The Rudy Elmenhurst Story
Yolanda

Yolanda
She is seeing Rudy. It really is bothering her to know she is an immigrant. As her and Rudy begin to see each other more she begins to think he wants to rape her. She is in a yearning mood. She stops seeing him and begins to make excuses on how he does not talk to her because he is busy. She becomes very frustrated with him.

Rudy –
Starts seeing Yolanda and thinks she will be easy. He is a very stubborn and begins getting frustrated. They stop seeing each other and finds another girl that same week. Tried to get back with her but she declines him.

Carlos the Father: He is over protective of his daughter. He doesn't like it when his daughters start acting independent.

The Mother: She loves her daughters and is always supporting them. She loves telling stories of what their daughters did when they were little.

Yolanda: She is the third oldest of the daughters. She became a poet but after not publishing anything for a while she decided to become a teacher.

Sofia: She is the youngest of the four daughters. She is the rebel of the family.

Carla: Is the oldest of the family. She becomes a psychologist.

Sandra: She is the second oldest.

Carlos: His love for his girls come from a good place, but comes across as very over protective.
Reminds me of my mom, everyone says she is very strict and over protective, but I thank her for the respect and values I have today.

Victor Hubbard: Is an American operative for the CIA, and helps the family escape America.
Reminds me of the typical old man cop, who has had his job for awhile on movies, smoker who bends the law, and isn't married who is interested in younger women
